The Bard College baseball team fell to Union on Monday night to close out the Bard-Union conference series.
Bard struggled to get their offense going as Union opened the scoring with five runs at the bottom of the first. The Garnet Chargers added insurance runs in the third and fourth innings to give them a marginal lead. Bard answered in the top of the fifth with a three-run homer by Sam Dumper to right center, for his first home run of the season. Unfortunately, it was not enough as Union added more runs to secure the win.
Dumper led the team going 2-for-3, while Xavier Webb, Rob DeBello, Andrew Plenn, and Mike Lynch all had a hit. Graham Benway came out of the bullpen and had two strikeouts, while Orlando Shin and Sachin Wijay each had a strikeout.
Bard will host Rochester and RIT this weekend for their Senior Day weekend. The Raptors will face Rochester on Saturday for a doubleheader at noon, and RIT on Sunday for a doubleheader at noon.
