EMMITSBURG, MD – The Marist University baseball team earned an 8-3 win in the finale of a three-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series at Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday.
With the victory, the Red Foxes took two out of three in the weekend set.
Noel Rivera belted a home run to lead off the game and open the scoring.
Zach Donahue came home on an error, which put Marist up 2-0 in the third.
Mount scored on a groundout in the bottom of the third, Rivera’s triple in the fourth brought home Scott Esposito, and gave Marist a two-run lead back.
Nathan Lincoln’s solo homer extended Marist’s advantage to 4-1 in the fourth, but Mateo Zeppieri’s two-run homer cut the Red Foxes’ lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the inning.
The score remained 4-3 until the ninth, when the Red Foxes tacked on four runs. Donahue delivered an RBI double, Esposito had an RBI single, and Jason Claiborn and AJ Brotz drew back-to-back bases loaded walks.
