Army Sweeps Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – Army West Point softball (30-20, 13-2 Patriot League) clinched the series sweep over the Lafayette Leopards (7-28, 5-10 Patriot League) with a 2-1 eight inning win for the first game of the double header and a 6-4 win for the final game of the series.

Army totaled 21 hits over the day with 12 in the first game and nine in the second, led by Annie Christiana and Maisi Sigler with four each for the day.

Maisi Sigler notched her fourth home run of the season as she slammed a two-run homer out of the left field wall directly into near-20 mile per hour winds to help the Black Knights secure their third win of the weekend.

All three of Army’s pitchers saw action on Saturday, totaling 12 strikeouts over the weekend with five to Katelyn Flanders, four to Amanda Eaglin, and three to Breanna Izzo.

Leila Hurst was a force in the infield on Sunday, racking up 20 putouts across the two games with Taten Moore tying her for a game-high seven in the second game of the day.
