Army Takes 8-3 Defeat at Bucknell Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Army West Point Baseball was looking to secure the weekend series at the Bucknell Bison Saturday, but fell 8-3 at Depew Field and will have to wait one more day for another chance to win the series.

The Black Knights gave up four runs in the third inning and another in the fourth to find themselves in a hole they couldn’t escape.

Multiple times, Army chipped away at the home team’s lead. Coleson Titus got the Black Knights on the board with an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth, before William Parker singled to score Thomas Schreck in the sixth.

The Black Knights’ best chance to make a significant dent in the deficit however came in the seventh, after Schreck scored Zac Farrell on an RBI single through the right side of the infield to make it 7-3. After Chris Barr reached on an error an at-bat later, Addison Ainsworth drew a walk to load the bases and bring the tying run to the plate. However, a fielder’s choice would end the frame and the threat.

Starting pitcher Justin Lehman took the decision, giving up four earned runs across five frames, striking out a pair and walking none. Mark Abell allowed no earned runs in relief, recording four strikeouts across 2.2 innings. Kaden Youmans recorded the final out of the eighth.
