Marist Completes Sweep of Manhattan

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist University softball team finished a three-game MAAC series sweep against Manhattan on Sunday, as the Red Foxes won 10-0 in five innings in the series finale.

Marist opened with scoring in the bottom of the first. Peyton Pusey’s leadoff homer to right center gave Marist a 1-0 lead.

Pusey’s blast was the first of three Marist homers in the inning. Maddie Pleasants homered to left center, a three-run shot that gave Marist a 4-0 lead. Samantha Rogers then homered to right center field, as Marist took a 5-0 lead.

Pleasants homered again, this time to left field to lead off the third, which put Marist up 6-0.

Ronni Howard launched a three-run homer to center field in the bottom of third, which brought home Isabella Manory and Samantha Rogers, which put Marist up 9-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Pleasants’ single brought home Miah McDonald, making the score 10-0.
