Mount Baseball Defeats Albertus Magnus

NEWBURGH – The Mount Saint Mary College baseball team defeated Albertus Magnus 17-7 ending via the mercy rule.

Mount Saint Mary broke open a scoreless game in the 3rd scoring six runs. Tyler Crocitto’s two-RBI single, Alex Nalewajk’s RBI walk, and Frank Signorelli’s three-RBI triple gave the Knights a 6-0 lead. They extended it to 10-0 in the 4th when Luke Barone crushed three-RBI homer and Crocitto scored on a wild pitch. Albertus Magnus got on the board in the 5th, scoring two runs via an RBI groundout and an RBI single, making it 10-2. Mount Saint Mary answered with three runs in the 5th on Tyler Van De Bogart’s three run bomb, pushing the lead to 13-2.

Albertus Magnus rallied for three runs in the 6th with an RBI single advanced by a Mount Saint Mary error and another RBI single, cutting it to 13-5. They added two more in the 7th with an RBI single and a RBI fielder’s choice, making it 13-7. Mount Saint Mary sealed the game in the 8th, scoring four runs, with Adam Leone’s RBI walk, Van De Bogart’s RBI walk, and Barone’s two-RBI double triggering the mercy rule at 17-7. Peter Pappalardo closed out a scoreless 8th for the Knights to secure the win.
