NEWBURGH – South Middle School proudly hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of their newly renovated Media Library.

This vibrant and modern space is designed to foster a love of reading and provide a welcoming environment where students can read independently, conduct research, and engage in small group instruction.

Student leaders, members of the National Junior Honor Society, and other members of the student body were invited to take part in the celebration.

The room buzzed with joy and excitement as students, teachers, and staff explored the beautifully redesigned space. The room is filled with bright blue and gold tones with inviting décor, the Media Library now serves as an inspiring hub for learning, reading, and discovery.

During the event, students shared heartfelt reflections about what the new space means to them and how they plan to use it. Teachers, staff, and the librarian also offered moving testimonies about the impact this transformation will have on student engagement and learning.

The Media Library is now more than just a room with books—it has become a dynamic space for creativity and collaboration. Beyond independent reading, it will also host small group instruction, research projects, and class presentations to further enrich our students’ educational experiences.
