Local Skaters Going to U.S. Excel National Finals

POUGHKEEPSIE – Ranked among the top figure skaters in the U.S. Figure Skating National Excel Series, three athletes from the Dutchess Figure Skating Club have qualified to compete at the 2025 U.S. Figure Skating Excel National Final, taking place July 9 – 13 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the headquarters of the U.S. Figure Skating Association.

Alexa Brittell (14), Kaitlyn Brittell (17) and Sadi Roloson (15), all residents of Highland, N.Y., train at McCann Ice Arena in Poughkeepsie under the coaching team of Allison Constant, Heather O’Connor and Sergei Sakhnovskiy. Together, they will represent the Dutchess Figure Skating Club on the national stage at their respective levels.

“It is incredibly meaningful to see three skaters you’ve coached since their earliest days on the ice step into the national spotlight,” said coach Heather O’Connor. “Alexa, Kaitlyn and Sadi have been part of the Dutchess Figure Skating Club family for more than 10 years, and in that time, they’ve shown exceptional talent and unwavering dedication. This year, they showed up at every competition with focus, resilience and heart. This isn’t just a milestone, it’s the result of years of work and belief in themselves.”

To qualify for the Excel National Final, skaters must rank among the top six in one of U.S. Figure Skating’s three regions, East, Midwest or Pacific, or hold one of the next six highest national scores at their level earned at sanctioned Excel Series events.

Alexa Brittell, competing at the Excel Intermediate Plus level, is currently ranked first in the East and third in the nation. Her sister, Kaitlyn Brittell, will compete in the Excel Junior category, ranked fourth in the East and sixth nationally. Sadi Roloson, qualifying at the Excel Novice level, holds the third-place ranking in the East and sixth nationally.
