KINGSTON – Last Friday, three Kingston City School District principals joined community members as “Rooftop Santas” for Project Santa, a People’s Place initiative that has been bringing holiday cheer to Ulster County youth for over 50 years.
On July 25, volunteers took turns on the roof of People’s Place at 17 St. James Street in Kingston throughout the day to raise funds. At 3:30 PM, Principals Kate Berardi (Chambers), Melissa Jamieson (JFK), and Kathleen Sickles (Crosby) took their turn on the roof to support the cause.
The principals used their elevated position to draw attention and support for this worthy initiative. Their participation demonstrated the strong community spirit within the school district, in and out of the classroom.
Funds raised will support People’s Place in providing toys, gifts, and holiday joy to youth in the community who might otherwise go without. Although it’s only July, this event helps ensure brighter holidays for local families later this year.
