Vassar Tennis Has Strong Showing

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Vassar College Women’s Tennis team continued play at the 2025 Poughkeepsie Scramble on Saturday, competing against Bates and Hamilton.

Vassar vs. Bates
In the first matchup, Vassar took each of the six singles matches. Erin McCusker scored a 6-1 first flight victory and also teamed with Iris Li for a top flight doubles win by a score of 6-3.

Sieun Lee earned a 6-1 second flight victory against Bates. Ananya Krishnan cruised to a 6-1 victory at the third flight and added a 6-4 second flight doubles win while playing with Maddie Kirby. Liya Pomfret put together a strong singles outing with a 6-3 triumph at the fourth flight.

Sara Lippin continued a strong weekend with a 6-0 victory at the fifth flight. Lippin also teamed with First Year Gwendolyn Gray in third flight doubles action and earned a hard fought 7-6 (3) win.

Esme Nix scored an impressive 6-2 victory at the sixth flight on Saturday.

Vassar vs. Hamilton
McCusker closed out a strong day with a 6-2 victory at the top flight against Hamilton.
Li was in action against Hamilton at the second flight and scored a 6-4 victory for the Brewers. Lee scored a second win of the day at the third flight for Vassar, battling to a 7-5 win.

Gray won at the sixth flight, cruising to a 6-1 victory. Pomfret was back in action against Hamilton and earned a 6-3 seventh flight triumph. McCusker and Li won for a second time in doubles play, taking their first flight decision by a score of 6-0.

Krishnan and Kirby played together at the second flight against Hamilton and cruised to a 6-2 victory.

Lee and Gray teamed together for a 6-4 third flight win.

At the fourth position, Pomfret and Nix cruised to a 6-1 victory.

Vassar vs. Bates
Lee finished off an impressive day with a 6-2 top flight victory.

Pomfret won for the third time on the day, scoring a 6-4 third flight victory. Kirby posted a 6-4 fourth flight victory for the Brewers.

Krishnan eased to a 6-1 sixth flight win for Vassar.

In doubles play, Krishnan and Kirby teamed for a 6-4 win. Lippin and Promfret were in action at the third flight, scoring a 6-3 win for Vassar.
