MIDDLETOWN – Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) welcomed over 500 Orange County residents for his annual Community BBQ and Resource Fair in Middletown on Saturday, September 20th. Hosted in partnership with the City of Middletown, this event brought together upwards of 25 agencies and organizations from across Orange County to share information about their services and community resources.
BBQ Crew, La Polla Argentinian Food, and Rita’s Italian Ice served up food to attendees throughout the event, which also received donations from Pepsi, Our Town Party Rentals, and a donation of ice cream courtesy of Stewart’s Shops. Adults and kids took part in lawn games such as life-sized checkers and cornhole, Air Fair Entertainment furnished an inflatable basketball net for shooting hoops, Tasha Clarke from Starplay Attractions did face painting, and Vargas Productions kept the music going. Empress EMS and the City of Middletown Police provided support throughout the day.
This event originated as Skoufis’ Taco Sunday in 2021 and – as it did on Saturday – offered a chance for the Senator and his team to spend the afternoon within the community.
“The Resource Fair and BBQ is one of my and my team’s favorite events of the year,” said Senator Skoufis. “Orange County is such a vibrant community; it’s an honor to represent our neighbors as a State Senator. Seeing everyone get a chance to connect and enjoy a sunny afternoon together is inspiring, and I’m already looking forward to next year’s event!”
