13-year-old Arrested in Thursday Fatal Shooting

NEWBURGH – On October 9, 2025, at approximately 8:17 AM City of Newburgh Police responded to a shooting incident inside the residence of 184 North Miller Street. Officers arrived and located a single victim inside the residence who was deceased from a gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as an 11-year-old juvenile male.

The City of Newburgh Detective Division and the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force immediately began investigating the incident. During the investigation a firearm was recovered, and three juveniles of interest were identified and quickly located by police.

The coordinated response of the City of Newburgh Police Department and the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force and all partner agencies resulted in an arrest within 12 hours of the incident. On October 9, 2025, a 13-year-old juvenile male not related to the victim was arrested for Murder in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Felony.
