Marist Football Drops PFL Contest to Drake

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist University football team dropped a Pioneer Football League home game to Drake by a score of 31-17 on Saturday at Tenney Stadium on Homecoming & Reunion Weekend.

Drake scored first on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Logan Inagawa to Jackson Voth.
Harry Balke’s 21-yard field goal gave Drake a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Tristan Shannon’s one-yard touchdown run got Marist within 10-7 at the 8:50 mark of the second quarter. It capped a 10-play, 75-yard drive in 5:53.

Inagawa’s eight-yard rushing touchdown put Drake in front 17-7.

Shannon’s second touchdown, this one from five yards out, put Marist within 17-14 with 30 seconds left until halftime. Marist put together a 16-play, 81-yard touchdown drive, and that remained the score at halftime.

Samer Layous’ 42-yard field goal tied the game at 17 with 10:10 left in the third quarter.

This was the result of Marist’s first drive of the third quarter, which covered 44 yards on 10 plays.

Luke Woodson’s three-yard rushing touchdown gave Drake a 24-17 lead with 4:59 remaining in the third quarter.

Inagawa’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Taj Hughes put Drake in front 31-17 early in the fourth quarter, and closed out the scoring.
