Gonzalez-Bosch Accepted to CC Leadership Academy

MIDDLETOWN – SUNY Orange Associate Vice President for Health Professions Dr. Mayda Gonzalez-Bosch has been selected for the prestigious NYS Community College Leadership Academy, a highly competitive fellowship for emerging senior academic leaders, following her nomination by SUNY Orange Provost Dr. Erika Hackman. She began her fellowship this Fall and is scheduled to complete the program in June 2026.

Gonzalez-Bosch shared her reaction to the news, “I am a learner. I feel joy during the process of learning, and my mother used to tell me that ‘You never learn enough to do a good job.’ I am always looking for opportunities that can open doors, increase my knowledge and build strong professional connections.”

The NYS Community College Leadership Academy develops mid-level community college leaders through intensive training in student success, change management, leadership strategy and institutional transformation, grounded in the Aspen College Excellence Program curriculum. The experience has produced measurable outcomes. In the last two years, 67 fellows from 25 colleges have earned promotions, led major institutional initiatives or secured significant grants. Selection is highly competitive and requires campus nomination, a minimum of three years in higher education, and active participation in six in-person or virtual sessions, project work and ongoing leadership activities.

“Dr. Gonzalez-Bosch is a thoughtful, visionary leader whose dedication to advancing student success and elevating SUNY Orange’s health professions programs is evident in everything she does,” said Hackman. “Her acceptance to the NYS Community College Leadership Academy is a well-deserved recognition of her talent and impact, and I am confident she will represent our institution with distinction while further expanding her leadership in service to our students and community.”

Eager to attend the first in-person session of the NYS Community College Leadership Academy at SUNY Adirondack, where Fellows will engage in two days of collaboration, goal-setting, and discussion, Gonzalez-Bosch said, “I am very much looking forward to our first-in-person session at SUNY Adirondack. The two-day session will include meaningful discussions, setting goals and aligning our objectives for the months ahead.”

Since joining SUNY Orange in January 2024 after serving as associate dean of health professions at Bergen Community College, Gonzalez-Bosch has overseen a robust healthcare division that includes Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Clinical Laboratory Science, Diagnostic Imaging, Movement Science, Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physical Therapist Assistant programs. Under her leadership, the college has expanded its Nursing program by 50 percent at the Newburgh campus, advanced plans to relocate Radiologic Technology to that campus, and maintained exceptional licensure pass rates.

Named one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in Education for 2025 by Women We Admire, ranked No. 41, and recently awarded a research fellowship with the STAR Scholar Network, Gonzalez-Bosch brings more than 18 years of experience as a physician, medical educator and academic leader. She continues to be recognized for her student-centered approach to building strong, future-ready healthcare programs at SUNY Orange. Additionally, she is a fierce champion of finding innovative ways to support students with learning disabilities, especially those that are undisclosed, achieve their academic goals.
