POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist University men’s basketball team won its fourth straight game on Sunday with an 80-68 home victory over Manhattan.
Manhattan scored 10 straight points to jump out to a 12-3 lead at the 14:04 mark.
Marist countered with a 12-0 run to take the lead, which included three-pointers by Rhyjon Blackwell and Justin Menard.
Manhattan used a 7-0 run to take a three-point lead in the final minute of the first half, but Elijah Lewis’ three-point play resulted in a 33-33 tie after 20 minutes.
Back-to-back baskets by Jaden Daughtry gave Marist a four-point lead with 17:29 remaining.
A Jaden Winston three put Manhattan ahead 53-52 with 10:30 to play. On the ensuing possession, Tarik Watson’s three-point play gave Marist back the lead and put the Red Foxes ahead for good.
A pair of Winston free throws brought Manhattan to within three at the 7:13 mark, but on the next possession, Justin Menard hit a three-pointer with 7:03 left. From that point forward, Marist outscored Manhattan 19-10.
