OC Legislators Take Oath of Office for New Term

GOSHEN – The newest class of Orange County Democratic Legislators took their oaths of office on January 2.

The Orange County Democratic Caucus hosted this historic swearing-in ceremony for its newly elected legislators, having swept a number of races in November.

The ceremony, held in the County’s legislative chambers in Goshen, was an important event for both newly elected and returning officials as they pledged to serve the county’s residents with dedication and integrity.

With a mix of familiar faces and fresh leaders, the Democrats welcomed new and re-elected officials from various districts throughout the county.

The special ceremony began with the pledge of allegiance, followed by an invocation by Mary McLymore.

Prior to each legislator taking the oath of office administered by Orange County Clerk Kelly Eskew, Genesis Ramos, Party Leader welcomed those gathered and spoke of the occasion.
“I am incredibly proud to be coming in with this incredibly, dynamic, strong, dedicated, committed group of public servants. We really have one mission, and one agenda, which is to deliver for the residents of this county.”

In her remarks, Eskew emphasized the importance of the county’s legislative body in making critical decisions for the community, especially in times of uncertainty.

The ceremony reflected the diversity and commitment of the legislators, who represent a range of districts. The event also served as an opportunity for lawmakers to express their hopes for the year ahead.
