Vassar Brewers Suffer Road Loss At Hamilton, 77-54

CLINTON – The Vassar College Women’s Basketball team opened 2026 Saturday evening with a 77-54 road loss at Hamilton. Erin Lovett matched her career-high with 14 points and Sierra McDermed joined Lovett with a team-high in scoring.

Saturday’s loss drops Vassar to 3-6 overall on the season while Hamilton improves to 8-5.
Vassar scored the first five points of a tightly contested opening quarter and gained a 14-10 lead on a Lovett bucket with just under three minutes left in the frame.

Hamilton closed the period with a 9-4 spurt, capped by an Erica Hills bucket at the horn, to give the Continentals a 19-18 advantage through 10 minutes of play.

Hamilton opened the second quarter with a 7-1 run with an Abbey Schwoebel jumper moving the advantage to 26-19 with 7:55 left before halftime.

The Continentals’ lead grew to double-figures for the first time when a Hills conversion pushed the lead to 33-23.

Lovett closed out the second quarter scoring with a bucket with 13 seconds left to bring Vassar to within 38-29 at the intermission.

Over the opening 20 minutes, Vassar shot 32.4-percent overall and went 2-for-11 from three-point range.

Hamilton converted at 41.7-percent in the first half and knocked down four three-point field goals.

Hamilton broke the game open after outscoring Vassar 21-10 in the third quarter.

A Schwoebel bucket at the 5:34 mark pushed the lead for Hamilton to 46-33.

The Continentals lead ballooned to 59-36 on a pair of Maggie Kernodle free-throws with 1:51 left in the period.

Hamilton’s lead grew to a game-high 31 points, at 70-39, on a Jaylen Manning jumper with 6:45 left in the contest.

Vassar was held to 28-percent shooting after halftime and went 1-for-5 from three-point range.

Hamilton shot an efficient 60.9-percent in the second half and canned a trio of three-pointers.

Lovett reached double-figures for the first time this season and matched her career-high with 14 points. Lovett also led the team with seven rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.

McDermed reached 14 points after going 5-for-10 from the floor and closed the day with three assists, a block and two steals.

Lindsey Shoulders chipped in nine points and four rebounds.

Hills led all players with 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting to go along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Taylor Lambo posted a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds while adding two assists and two blocks.

Kendall Harris totaled 12 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Reagan Dowd led all players with four assists.
