Vassar Tops Union In Final Dual Meet of the Season

SCHENECTADY – The Vassar College Women’s Swimming and Diving team was victorious in its final dual meet of the season on Saturday, cruising past Union 151-93. Seniors Abigail McLaughlin and Addie Wiener were each victorious in two events against the Garnet Chargers.

Saturday’s victory pushes Vassar to 5-4 overall in dual meet competitions.

McLaughlin swam past the field in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.25) and the 50-yard freestyle (25.93) on Saturday.

Wiener scored victories for the Brewers in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:09.88), winning the event by nearly 17 seconds, and the 100-yard freestyle (55.63).

First Year Clare Baker touched out first in Saturday’s meet in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.27).

Classmate Abigail Ford was first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.45) and added a second-place swim in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.13). Swimming exhibition in the 200-yard individual medley, Ford posted the quickest time in the event on Saturday with a mark of 2:18.25.

Vivien Li touched out first for Vassar in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.74).

Quinn Hoagland turned in a strong meet with a win in the 200-yard backstroke (2:12.21) and a runner-up swim in the 1,000-yard freestyle (1:26.80).

Stella Petersen earned a first-place finish for the Brewers in the 500-yard freestyle (5:54.16) and added a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.34).

Izzy Holmes bested the field on Saturday in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.84) and was second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.87).

Eva D’Addario was second on Saturday in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:48.04) with Abigail Mirick adding a runner-up swim in the 500-yard freestyle (6:17.38).

Alaina Desautels swam to third-place finishes against the Garnet Chargers in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.22) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.63).

Lilly Masters earned a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (26.38) and Sophie Tran was third for Vassar in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:54.08).

The 200-yard medley relay team of Baker, Ford, Li and McLaughlin earned a victory in the meet’s first event with a time of 1:55.40.

The quartet of McLaughlin, Hoagland, Baker and Wiener was quickest in the 200-yard freestyle relay, showing a time of 1:44.85.

Vassar hosts the Vassar Spring Invitational on January 31 in its final meet before the 2026 Liberty League Championship.
