POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist University men’s basketball team dropped its season finale to Saint Peter’s by a score of 63-56 on Sunday.
Prior to the game, the Red Foxes celebrated Senior Day.
Parby Kabamba’s three at the 17:28 mark gave Marist its first lead at 5-2.
Marist went on a 12-3 run, and a jumper by Kabamba put Marist up 10 at the 9:16 mark.
Just 1:03 later, Kabamba’s three-point play gave Marist its largest first-half lead of 11.
Saint Peter’s took a one-point lead thanks to a 16-4 run, but Myles Parker’s jumper in the final seconds of the first half gave the Red Foxes a 31-30 lead going to the locker room.
Saint Peter’s outscored Marist 17-7 over the first 8:02 of the second half to take a nine-point lead.
The Peacocks’ largest lead was 10, which came with 7:02 remaining.
Marist scored five straight points to get within three with under 20 seconds to play. But Brent Bland hit four free throws in the final 15 seconds to seal the win for Saint Peter’s.
