Vassar Tennis Suffers Close Loss to Sewanee

LOS ANGELES, CA – The #26 Vassar College Women’s Tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to #27 Sewanee Monday afternoon at the Mountain Gate Country Club in Los Angeles. Sieun Lee, Ananya Krishnan and Maddie Kirby all won singles decisions for the Brewers.

Monday’s loss drops Vassar to 2-3 overall on the season, while Sewanee evens its record at 4-4.

Doubles
The Tigers earned the doubles point on Monday with victories at the first and third positions.

Vassar’s second unit of Krishnan and Kirby improved their season record to 3-2 with a 6-2 victory.

Erin McCusker and Iris Li battled in a tough 5-7 decision at the top flight.

Singles
Lee evened her spring record at 2-2 against the Tigers after scoring a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) victory at the third position.

At four, Krishnan posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory for Vassar, moving to 3-2 to date in the spring.

Kirby won for the third time in five decisions on Monday after earning a hard fought 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 triumph.

McCusker suffered a marathon 7-5, 3-6, 2-6 defeat at the top flight against the Tigers.

Likewise, Li was outlasted at the second position in a hard fought 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 3-6 decision.
