Marist Falls in Series Finale Against St. Peter’s

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist University softball team dropped the final of a three-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series to Saint Peter’s by a score of 7-5 at Gartland Field on Sunday.

In the bottom of the first, Annabelle Geiser drew a one-out walk, and she scored on Samantha Rogers’ sacrifice fly.

Summer Solitaria’s two-run double in the second gave Saint Peter’s a 2-1 lead.

Sienna Kunze led off the fourth with an infield single, and she scored the tying run on Lily Roumelis’ groundout.

After the fourth inning, there was a rain delay of one hour, 55 minutes.

Peyton Pusey led off the fifth with a walk, and Haley Ahr’s RBI single brought her home to give Marist a 3-2 advantage.

Saint Peter’s took the lead for good with a three-run sixth. Steph Bendzlowicz delivered a two-run single in the inning. The Peacocks then tacked on two more in the seventh to go up 7-3.

Rogers delivered a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to account for the game’s final runs.
