SUNY Orange Baseball Falls to Middlesex College

EDISON, NJ – The SUNY Orange baseball team dropped two road games against Middlesex College. The final scores were 8-3 and 5-3.

Game one – Middlesex (8) – SUNY Orange (3)
The Colts got on the board first in the first inning thanks to a RBI single from Michael Fontaine. Middlesex quickly responded by taking the lead and bringing in three runs in the first inning.

The second inning went on to be scoreless for both teams. Middlesex added one run in the third, one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth, while keeping the Colts scoreless throughout, taking a commanding 7-1 lead

Garrett Srednicki drove in one run after a RBI double to center field. Michael Fontaine brought in one more run from a RBI single. Middlesex brought in one more run in the sixth making the score 8-3. SUNY Orange was not able to come back in the final inning.

On the mound for the Colts was Gavin Rounds who pitched 3.2 innings facing 18 batters allowing four earned runs and striking out three batters. Connor Griffin made an appearance pitching 1.1 innings facing 10 batters allowing two earned runs. Shaun Misczuk also made an appearance 1.0 inning facing four batters and striking out one batter.

Game two – Middlesex (5) – SUNY Orange (3)
Middlesex took the lead in the first inning leading 2-0 heading into the second. The Colts responded in the second inning bringing in one run from Thomas Grogan who scored on a passed ball, cutting the Colts deficit to 2-1.

The Colts went on for a scoreless third inning, but Middlesex added one run to the board. Both teams did not score in the fourth or the fifth inning. With the score being 3-1 heading into the sixth inning.

Michael Schnitzer brought in a run after a sacrifice fly to center field. Jonas Kerzner had an RBI single to left field bringing in one run, tying up the game at 3-3. Middlesex answered back, regaining control of the game and bringing in two more runs to take the 5-3 lead.

The Colts were not able to respond back in the final inning, closing out the game with a 5-3 loss for the Colts.

Pitching for the Colts was Anthony Borromeo. He pitched 5.1 innings facing 21 batters and allowing two earned runs while striking out two batters. Jacob Morini made an appearance and faced four batters allowing one earned run and having one strike out.
