Hawks Fall 9-0 on Day Two of Florida Trip

ST. PETERSBURG, FL— The State University of New York at New Paltz fell 9-0 to St. Petersburg College Monday afternoon.

“Against one of the strongest JUCO teams in Florida, the team really stepped up their game.” Says coach Rob Bruley. “Although the score line reads 9-0, it doesn’t really reflect how well we played. Their international lineup was just a little more consistent. We are looking forward to really strong opposition in our third match in Florida.”

Doubles: Sam Ostrander and Justine Stanejko played first doubles falling 8-3. Patrycja Filonik and Olivia Kunz earned a point but fell 8-1. Nina Genzone and Angelica Gabriel also fell 8-3 to the Titans.

Singles: Stanejko fell 6-1 in her first set and 6-3 in the second, playing first singles. Sydney Sladicka played second singles falling 6-3 in the first set and 6-1 in her second. Filonik played third singles falling 6-4, and 6-1.

Lula Brown-Vann played fourth singles, falling in her first set 6-1 and her second 6-3. Alex Krol battled in her match winning the first set 7-5. Krol lost the second and third sets 10-4.

Alyssa Trokie played third singles falling 6-0 in her first set and 6-3 in the second.
