Marist Earns 6-1 Rivalry Road Win Over Siena

LATHAM – The Marist University women’s tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Siena on the road Monday evening.

The Red Foxes improved to 9-6 on the season and 4-1 in MAAC play, while the Saints dropped to 8-8 overall and 1-5 in conference action.

Marist secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Junior Caterina Assi and freshman Yasmin Asnis earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2, while sophomore Lola Ungerman and senior Cloe Clements Sorde followed with a 6-1 win at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match featuring freshman Tessa Wachtel and sophomore Viktoria Lorentzon was unfinished with Siena leading 5-3.

The Red Foxes carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches. Assi led the way with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1. Lorentzon followed with a three-set win at No. 2, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, while Clements Sorde added a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 3.

Ungerman delivered a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4, and sophomore Ella Lindsey secured a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 6. Asnis dropped a tight match at No. 5, falling 7-6 (4), 6-1.
