Army Drops Series Finale vs. Bucknell

WEST POINT – Army West Point baseball’s series finale got off to a late start Sunday due to passing rain showers in the Hudson Valley, but despite the 8-0 loss, the Black Knights clinched a spot in the 2026 Patriot League Baseball Championships.

Army (22-16, 12-8 PL) can also claim the weekend series vs. Bucknell, having taken three matchups in the four-game set.

A Lehigh loss to Lafayette on Sunday ultimately gave Army its postseason berth, with the Black Knights holding a six-game lead and the tiebreaker over the Mountain Hawks with six more games to play in league play.

Michael Delph got the start on the mound, collecting a career-high four strikeouts, but surrendering a pair of two-run homers. The sophomore was credited with his first decision of his career.

Mark Abell followed in relief and tied a career-high of five strikeouts over 3.2 innings, while allowing a pair of runs. Jakob Vanderhave picked up four outs out of the bullpen and allowed a pair of unearned runs before Walker Calvo closed Army’s day on the mound with a scoreless ninth inning.
