Jerrel “Jerreli” Simon Almanzar – A Life Well Lived

Jerrel Simon Almanzar, affectionately known as “Jerreli” to many of his family members and friends, was born on March 25, 1982, in New York City to Rafael Almanzar and Annette Marzan. He tragically passed away on April 26, 2026, in Santiago Rodríguez, Sabaneta, Dominican Republic.

Jerrel was known for his fun-loving, high-spirited personality and boundless energy. He was someone who simply could not sit still—always on the move, always seeking his next adventure. A true outdoorsman, Jerrel found joy and peace in nature. He loved snowboarding, wide open land, and animals—especially his beloved pet donkey, Maggie, who will miss him dearly.

He had a natural curiosity and creativity, often inventing new ways to improve his quality of life and the world around him. Jerrel was incredibly handy and never hesitated to lend a helping hand when someone was in need. His generosity, combined with his humor, made him unforgettable. A true jokester, he had a way of making people laugh and could form friendships wherever he went.

Jerrel’s spirit was wild and free—untamed and full of life. Most recently, he settled in his father’s country of origin, the Dominican Republic, where he embraced a simpler, more grounded way of living. There, he immersed himself in agriculture, working his father’s land and finding deep fulfillment and happiness in farming and the life he was building.

He is survived by his beloved son, Aiden and his son’s mother Rosemarie; his loving mother, Annette Marzan and her life partner Charles; his father, Rafael Almanzar Rodriguez; his maternal grandmother, Judith Ortiz, affectionately known as “Grammy”; his siblings, Joe, Judy, Daniel, Rocio, Gabriel, and David; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews —all of whom loved him deeply and are devastated by his passing.

Jerrel’s life was lived with intensity, laughter, and a deep connection to the world around him. Though his time here was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. “No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” – Author Unknown
