Vassar Clipped By RPI In Championship Final

ITHACA – The Vassar College Women’s Tennis team was denied its second straight Liberty League Championship Sunday afternoon in a 4-2 loss to RPI in the 2026 Liberty League Championship Final.

Vassar saw its 11-match winning streak stopped and stands at 14-6 overall on the season. RPI wins its first ever conference crown and improves to 12-6 heading into the NCAA Tournament.

Doubles
RPI claimed the doubles point on Sunday after winning at the top two flights.

Sieun Lee and Sara Lippin gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead in the doubles competition with a convincing 6-1 win at the third position. The win was moved the duo to a perfect 11-0 as a unit.

RPI’s top pair of Nicole Ridenour and Anushka Jaiswal got the Engineers even with a 6-3 victory over Erin McCusker and Iris Li.

With the doubles point on the line, Kayla Wheeler and Victoria Sarabosing posted a 6-4 win over Ananya Krishnan and Maddie Kirby to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the match.

Singles
RPI moved in front 2-0 in the match with a win at sixth singles.

Vassar came back to even the score at 2-2 with wins from McCusker and Li at the first and second flights.

McCusker got Vassar on the board with an impressive 6-2, 6-0 win at the top flight.

Li drew Vassar even in the contest at 2-2 after earning a 6-1, 6-4 win at the second position.

RPI took the matches at the fourth and fifth positions to secure the title.

Juliette Ceas scored a 6-3, 6-3 fifth singles win to push RPI in front 3-2.

Sarabosing, the championships Most Outstanding Performer, clinched the win with a 6-4 6-4 victory at the fourth slot.
