Students Learn to Better Support Their Peers

By Zeeba Pavri

NEWBURGH – To recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, our Safe School Ambassadors at Heritage Middle School spent time learning how to better support their peers and build a more positive community. After watching an educational slideshow on mental wellness, the students discussed practical ways to step up for their friends and help everyone feel included.

As a symbol of this commitment, the Ambassadors created a new unity rock garden titled “Heritage Rising.” Located right at the front of the school, the garden is filled with stones hand-painted with empowering and uplifting words. We hope these small words of encouragement help every student and visitor feel a little more loved and connected when they arrive each morning.
