PHILADELPHIA, PA – Army West Point football quarterback Cale Hellums has been named to the 2026 Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List.
A native of Tomball, Texas is one of 81 players named to the watch list for the 90th Maxwell Award.
In 2025, Hellums recorded 1,223 rushing yards on the season, becoming just the eighth Army rusher to reach that mark. He also compiled 18 rushing touchdowns, which was the second-most rushing touchdowns in a season in program history, trailing only Bryson Daily’s program-record 32 set in 2024.
The Maxwell Award presented annually to the outstanding player in college football. The Maxwell Award watch list will once again incorporate a broad spectrum of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs and conferences from coast to coast.
Army opens the 2026 season on Sept. 5 vs. Bryant at Michie Stadium.
