WEST POINT – Army Men’s Soccer fell 2-0 to Yale on Monday evening at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field. The loss is the Black Knights’ first of the 2026 campaign.
The Black Knights started the game strong, holding a commanding 10-1 shot advantage and 2-1 corner kick advantage in the first half. Jubril Bamgbala, Kelly Cooper, Kasem Minzey and Justin Davidyock tested Yale goalkeeper Joshua Linebaugh with shots on goal, but Linebaugh denied the chances, finishing the night with a total of five saves.
Army outshot Yale on the night but was unable to find the back of the net despite its opportunities. Yale made the most of its chances: in the 52nd minute, Nathan Harmon scored off a feed from Sven Meacham and Ethan Otterberg to break the scoreless tie. The Bulldogs doubled their lead in the 88th minute when Salif Leintu scored off another assist from Meacham.
Army pushed for a score in the closing minutes of the game with Ronald Zhai and Curtis Boozer both getting off shots late, but Linebaugh and the Yale defense held firm shutting out the Black Knights 2-0.
The result moves Army to 1-1-2 on the year, and Yale to 1-1-0.
The Black Knights will take on Stonehill at 6:00 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 3 at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
