Mount Tennis Drops Home Match With Purchase

NEWBURGH – The Mount Saint Mary women’s tennis team fell to SUNY Purchase, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the MSMC Tennis Courts.

The Knights battled in doubles but Purchase secured the opening point with wins at all three positions. Sydney Sladicka and Autumn Strobach came closest to earning a point for the Mount at first doubles, falling to Amelia Perlmutter and Alyssa Muschenick, 6-2.

Mount Saint Mary answered with a pair of dominant performances at the top of the singles lineup. Sladicka cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at first singles, while Strobach followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at second singles to bring the Knights within one point at 3-2.

Purchase, however, closed out the match with wins at third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles to secure the 5-2 team victory.
