Goshen Christmas House Tour to be Held

GOSHEN – Based on the success of last year’s inaugural Goshen Christmas House Tour, Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan is pleased to announce that it will once again be hosting this great event to kick-off the Christmas season. On Saturday, December 3, eight private Goshen homes, as well as Glen Arden and The Stagecoach Inn, will open their doors to visitors to show off their holiday finery. Homes will be open to ticketed guests from 1 to 5 pm for self-guided tours.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.catholiccharitiesoc.org or call 294.5124, ext. 308. Tickets are required for all tour participants. Proceeds from this fundraising event will go directly toward support of Catholic Charities’ anti-poverty programs, including emergency food and shelter, for the neediest residents in Orange and Sullivan Counties.

“We are blessed to have kind-hearted friends in the community who have generously agreed to open their homes during the Christmas season to help raise much-needed funds to support Catholic Charities’ mission to provide help and create hope,” said Susan Murray-Tetz, Christmas House Tour committee chair and chair of Catholic Charities Board of Directors.

“Last year’s participating homeowner’s went above and beyond in decorating their homes and welcoming our guests on the Tour. We have a completely new slate of homes lined up for this year and know it is going to be another great day in Goshen for a great cause,” added Ms. Murray-Tetz.

Catholic Charities has partnered with other community organizations to create a full day of activities and old-fashioned Christmas fun in Goshen on Saturday, December 3. John S. Burke Catholic High School will kick-off the day with an Ugly Sweater Jingle Jog/Walk 5k and host the annual Christmas boutique from 10 am to 4 pm at the school. Goshen Chamber of Commerce, Village of Goshen, and Goshen Joint Recreation will be hosting the annual Christmas tree lighting in the Village Square. Festivities begin at 4 pm and the tree lighting will take place at 5 pm.

“Goshen is going to kick-off the holiday season in style on Saturday, December 3,” said Village of Goshen Mayor Kyle Roddey. “I encourage folks to gather their families and friends, have lunch or dinner in Goshen, visit the beautiful homes on the tour, do some shopping, and enjoy the tree lighting. We have a wonderful sense of community here in Goshen and we want to share it– there will be something for everyone,” added Mayor Roddey.

Check-in for those who have pre-purchased Christmas House Tour tickets will open at 12 noon at Glen Arden at 214 Harriman Avenue, Goshen. Tickets also will be on sale for those who want to purchase on the day of the Tour. Homes will open to guests at 1 pm and close at 5 pm.

Warm beverages, holiday cookies, and restroom facilities will be available at Glen Arden throughout the day. Tour guests will be provided with a map and pin to identify their participation. In the event of snow, the House Tour will be held Sunday, December 4.
