Marist Football Falls at Home to Bucknell

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist University football team dropped a non-league home game to Bucknell by a score of 34-23 at Tenney Stadium on Saturday.

Both teams are now 1-1 overall.

Bucknell jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but Marist got on the board with a one-yard touchdown run by Tristan Shannon. This capped a nine-play, 80-yard drive.

After Bucknell extended its least to 17-7, Sonny Mannino found Connor Hulstein for a one-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-goal with 15 seconds remaining in the half. Bucknell’s lead was 17-14 after 30 minutes.

The teams traded field goals in the third quarter, and Bucknell’s lead was 20-17 after 45 minutes.

Bucknell extended its lead to 34-17 by the midway point of the fourth quarter.

Marist closed out the scoring on a four-yard rushing touchdown by Ja’Cyion Cox with 50 seconds to go.

Marist plays its first road game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Wagner.
