GARDEN CITY – SUNY Orange men’s soccer drops a match against Nassau Community College on Thursday night. With this loss the Colts drop to 2-5-2 on the season while the Lions improve to 5-2.
The Lions took the lead early in the 5th minute with a goal from Jeremy Ramos, who was assisted by Christian Cabrera.
The Colts held strong for the next 20 minutes, but Nassau extended their lead in the 25th minute with a goal by Cristhian Ramos Monsalve, assisted by Ned Devine and Alexis Gomez.
The Lions added a third goal just before halftime in the 40th minute when Mohamed Alsayedi found the back of the net, giving Nassau a 3-0 lead heading into the break.
SUNY Orange’s defense tightened up in the second half, holding Nassau scoreless until the 85th minute. A foul in the box led to a penalty kick for the Lions, which Juan Nunez converted to seal the 4-0 win.
Freshman Dominic Vega had seven saves with 11 shots on goal.
