TOWN OF NEWBURGH – The results are in and Mary Lou Carolan, Democrat/Working Families Party has won the Town Council seat over two-time incumbent Paul Ruggiero, Republican/Conservative, signaling the beginning of a new era for the historically Republican leaning town.
Carolan ran on a platform of bringing a fresh vision and voice to the Council and providing community centered leadership focused on listening, transparency and collaboration for the town’s future. She also presented a new perspective for attracting and retaining small businesses, livable wages and employment, and exploring housing opportunities for all.
“I am deeply honored by the bi-partisan support I received in this election. There was an expressed desire by the voters I spoke with for a change. I am encouraged by their belief in me and my experience to bring about that positive change and to create a more cohesive and vibrant community together. I will give this role my absolute best – showing up for and representing all the residents in our Town.”
