Kappa League Inducts 24 to Youth Development Program

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Poughkeepsie Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated proudly welcomed twenty-four young men into its Kappa League youth development program during an inspiring induction ceremony held on February 12, 2026. The newly inducted Alpha Class represents students from multiple middle and high schools across Dutchess and Orange counties.

Family members, friends, mentors, and community leaders gathered to celebrate the achievements and promise of these young men. The evening featured an interactive STEM showcase in which each inductee presented a completed robotics kit project, highlighting the program’s strong emphasis on academic enrichment, innovation, and exposure to future-ready skills.

Kappa League, the national youth guidance and achievement initiative of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., supports the educational, occupational, and social development of young men in grades 6–12 through mentoring, leadership training, college and career exposure, and community service. The program prepares participants to become responsible leaders and productive citizens.

Craig Smith, Guide Right Director for the Poughkeepsie Alumni Chapter, stated, “The Poughkeepsie Kappa League proudly recognizes our newest inductees: young men from various middle and high schools in Dutchess and Orange counties who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and meaningful community service. Their dedication reflects the core values of our program and the promise of future leaders prepared to excel in every arena of life. We celebrate their achievements and look forward to supporting their continued development as they rise to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Parents also reflected on the impact of the program. Danielle Green, mother of inductee Daniel Green, shared: “I’m incredibly proud to see him step into Kappa League. As an only child with a big heart and real determination, I’m grateful he’ll be part of a brotherhood that will strengthen his leadership and help him lead with character, confidence, and purpose. As an educator, I’m proud to be connected to an organization that truly pours into young men.”

The Poughkeepsie Alumni Chapter continues its longstanding commitment to youth empowerment through Guide Right and Kappa League initiatives that foster scholarship, service, and leadership throughout the Hudson Valley.
