ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON – The Bard College men’s soccer team was in prime position to earn a win but settled for a point against the Skidmore Thoroughbreds on Saturday afternoon at Ferrari Field, 1-1.

After settling into the contest, Bard generated a corner at the 13:52 mark. The Raptors prevented a shot until the 17th minute, a testament to their tenacity early on. Another corner came for Bard at the 20:38 mark, leading to a shot from Henry Skeltis that went out right.

Emmett Olson had an attempt a minute and change later, missing left. The pressure mounted with a shot on goal by Frankie Perera-Modica that required a goalkeeper save. At the 33:34 mark, Devon Green had a shot to the bottom center that was saved to keep it 0-0. He followed it up with a shot less than four minutes later but could not score. The game remained tied heading into halftime after a late shot from Mateo Betelu and a save from Jake Sudit.

Bard took a corner early on in the second half, but nothing came of it. Sudit made a save at the 49:37 mark, leaving the game scoreless.

Skidmore looked to have taken the lead at the 57:47 mark, but it was called offside. Betelu took advantage of an opportunity just under two minutes later, sliding to finish a beautiful pass from Skeltis after he had dribbled into the box. Sudit and the Bard defense continued to work, preventing a goal until the final minute. With 40 seconds left, an initial shot deflected out to Skidmore, and the Thoroughbreds stunned the crowd with a game-tying goal.

Sudit finished with three saves, while Jamie Coequyt, Skeltis, Evan Baukol, Olson, and Charalambos Vattis played all 90 minutes.
