Frustrating Republican party “talking points”

Dear Editor:

After listening to Rep. Nan Hayworth speak to a senior citizens’ group in Beacon at Forrestal Heights recently, I am left frustrated that the seniors’ questions were met with Republican party “talking points”.

A resident asked about bills pending in Congress that would raise the minimum wage. Rep. Hayworth claimed that she knew of no pending bills. The resident then handed Hayworth two separate pieces of legislation that have been introduced in the House of Representatives. The Congresswoman folded them up into a small packet after saying that people need to get better jobs.

It is obvious to me, and others in attendance, that Rep. Nan Hayworth owes her allegiance to the 1%, and to a Republican Party that wants to continue the trickle-down policies that have never worked to create jobs for Americans.

We need people in public service to serve the people who live in their districts; to listen to them, to respond to them, to act for them. I am of the 99%, and I vote.
