Community-Minded Individuals to Be Honored

POUGHKEEPSIE – Catholic Charities Community Services of Dutchess County will be recognizing contributions to the community of two individuals and one corporation at the not-for-profit human service agency’s inaugural Spirit of Service Awards Dinner to be held at Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls on Thursday, June 9.

Catholic Charities of Dutchess County’s Spirit of Service Awards will recognize the accomplishments and contributions of those who exemplify the agency’s mission to build a more just and caring Dutchess County. Monsignor John J. Brinn, Pastor Emeritus of St. Mary’s – St. Joseph’s Parish in Poughkeepsie will be presented with the Humanitarian Award. Mr. Les McCarthy, past president of the Notre Dame Club of the Mid-Hudson Valley, will receive the Light of Hope Award. IBM will receive the Corporate Citizen Award. Ms. Sheila Appel, IBM’s US Regional Director for Corporate Citizenship Initiatives, will accept the award on IBM’s behalf.

“We are delighted to be introducing Catholic Charities of Dutchess County’s Spirit of Service Awards with such an outstanding slate of honorees,” said Mary Marshall, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Dutchess County. “We are able to fulfill our mission of service thanks to the support and collaboration of dedicated volunteers, community-minded individuals, and generous corporate neighbors like Msgr. Brinn, Mr. McCarthy, and IBM. We are grateful for the opportunity to recognize their outstanding support of our agency and their fellow residents of Dutchess County,” added Ms. Marshall.

The evening’s festivities will be emceed by Joe Daily of Litefm 92.1, and will kick-off at 5:30 pm with a social hour and silent auction; followed by sit-down dinner and awards presentation at 6:30 pm.
