Head Start Hosts Multicultural & Literacy Night

MIDDLETOWN – Head Start parents organized a special evening event on Thursday May 26 at the Middletown Head Start center to celebrate the school’s diverse families. Multicultural & Literacy Night was an opportunity to represent culture through traditional dress, food and music. Students arrived dressed in historically relevant outfits, parents prepared dishes like tacos, collard greens, and tres leches cake, a sponge cake made with three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream.

The students also wrote letters for Operation Christmas Child which were dropped in a box made by one of the parents. The letters will be forwarded to other children across the country. We had readings by parents and the stamping of passports as the kids moved from room to room.
