Newburgh Prep Charter HS Graduates 17

NEWBURGH – Newburgh Prep Charter High School held its eighth graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 22nd at the Orange County Trust Great Room at Kaplan Hall, SUNY Orange. More than 150 guests were in attendance to cheer on the 17 graduating students who earned NYS Regents Diplomas. A milestone was met, this class brings the total of graduating students to 51, since first opening in September of 2013. Kathy Frommer, Keynote Graduation Speaker, said “This is the greatest honor to be commencement speaker” and inspired and encouraged the graduates to “be true to who you are” and added “your reward is today, please celebrate ”.

Diplomas were presented by Mindy Ross, Newburgh Prep Board of Trustees President, Wendy Wright, Principal and Cheryl Gross, Comptroller. Sue Sheehan presented two scholarships from SUNY Orange to Nancy Perez and Skye Johnson. Evander Jones was given the “Be Somebody Award”, and Jordan Glenn was presented with Best Attendance Award. Amy Shea, one of the graduating students, performed the song “You Raise Me Up”.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2016-2017 school year for students, age 16-21, English and non-English speaking, who want to earn a high school diploma in a non-traditional environment.
