WASHINGTON, D.C. – The premier of the spoken word and music “World peace Album” CD is set for July 17th. The event is sponsored by The United Nations – UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural organization), and Action Moves People United.
Featured on the CD are two local area artista Ed McCarthy and Renee’ Ruwe. Their poem “A Dream of Peace” is featured on the album, and was selected by the panel of judges of the United Nations UNESCO and Action Moves People United who selected it from submissions from all over the world.
Ed and Renee’ are also members of The White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA), and are also co-Producers and Directors of the documentary film “Bolden: An American Hero” on the first African American Secret Service Agent on The White House Detail.
Also chosen was the poem “Peace IS” that was written by Orlyn D. Ruwe Renee’s Grandmother who is turning 96 in July. Orlyn has been an active and prolific poet for 71 years and she is the oldest artist on the project.
Some other world renown artist/ musicians on this project are Steve Walsh of Kansas, Ian Andersen, Martin Barre of Jethro Tull, Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge, Julian Lennon, Dan Akroyd, Annie Haslen of Renaissance, Boxer Ray Mercer, Janis Ian, Tony Levin of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel band, and Sharon Katz.
The Gala concert and ceremony will be held at The Washington Monument in Washington, DC. It is part of a four hour concert event for Nelson Mandela Day July 17th Headlined by Sharon Katz and The Peace Train. Action Moves People United is currently producing the project. Producers are Grammy Award winner Kevin Mackie, Krista Wall Hagen, and Rupam Sarmah. The world wide release of the album will be in August.
