Hannaford Re-Usable Bags Help Meals on Wheels

NEW WINDSOR – Every month, Hannaford Supermarkets contribute money to 188 nonprofits in their northeast stores – one organization per store – to receive donations from sales of their Hannaford Helps re-usable bags. “We are thrilled and honored that Hannaford in New Windsor has chosen Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh as their beneficiary for September.  For the entire month, Meals on Wheels will receive a $1 donation from each bag sold, “ said Carole McDermott, president.

The bright blue bags with the “create a little good karma” message are are sold at various store registers and the re-usable display rack.  The bags are also available in bulk for interested groups.  Hannaford will automatically send $1 to Meals on Wheels for each bag sold.  For more information about the program, visit www.hannaford.bags4mycause.com.
“The purchase of each bag helps us deliver a hot, nutritious, noontime meal to a homebound individual who is in need,” said Robin Bello, Meals on Wheels Executive Director.  She continued, “We have a very tight budget, and every $1 really helps.”
