NEW PALTZ – The State University of New York at New Paltz women’s tennis team opened up its 2016 fall schedule with a 9-0 victory against non-conference opponent Rutgers-Newark on Saturday afternoon at the North Tennis Courts.
The Hawks (1-0) swept all six singles flights with 6-0, 6-0 scores as senior Olivia Ammirati, junior Brittany Grandville, junior Carol Tyson, junior Emi Lewis, sophomore Lindsay Haley and freshman Jessica Reich all picked up victories.
In doubles action, number one and number two both won by 8-0 scores while junior Taylor Mormile and freshman Victoria Zezula earned an 8-3 win at number three.
New Paltz begins SUNYAC East Division action next weekend, Sept. 9-10, playing against SUNY Cortland and SUNY Oneonta.
