Blue Knights Downed on the Road at Pratt

BROOKLYN – The Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Tennis team dropped its third straight match on Sunday following a 6-3 road loss at Pratt. Freshman Michelle Carnovale and sophomore Mikayla Zaccaria picked up singles wins for the Knights.

Carnovale continued her unbeaten streak to start the season on Sunday, outlasting Pratt’s Agata Jakubowska 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. The win pushed her to 5-0 to start her collegiate career and is now the lone Mount Saint Mary player without a singles blemish on the season.

Zaccaria moved to 3-2 in singles play overall and to 2-0 at the fourth position with a 7-6, 4-6, 10-3 triumph on Sunday. Newcomer Dorothy Tighe also put together a strong singles effort against the Cannoneers, dropping a hard fought 0-6, 7-5, 9-11 decision.

In doubles action, the third pair of Tighe and Isabella Tartaglione won with an 8-4 victory on Sunday. The win was the duo’s first of the season together and moved them to 1-1 in doubles action to start the season.

Following Sunday’s loss, Mount Saint Mary stands at 1-4 overall on the season. The Knights will be off until Friday, September 23 when they welcome New Rochelle to Newburgh. Match time with the Blue Angles is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
