Mount Saint Mary Sails Past Maritime

NEWBURGH – Nine different players scored a goal and junior Bridget McKeever totaled four assists as the Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Soccer team returned to the win column with an overwhelming 10-0 Skyline Conference home win over Maritime on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights opened the game up early on Saturday, potting four goals inside the first 11 minutes of the contest. Nicole Cavallo scored the game winning goal 94 seconds into the game and McKeever scored a goal and assisted on two others in the opening flurry.

Jessica Lanning scored her second goal in as many games in the 26th minute before Destiny Ribadeneyra and Claire Newman scored in the final 14 minutes of the first half to send the Knights to a 7-0 halftime advantage.

The Mount outshot Maritime 20-0 in the first 45 minutes and took each of the five corner kicks earned before halftime. McKeever finished the half with a goal and four helpers for the Mount.

Mount Saint Mary added three more goals in the second half, with Allison Jones, Jordan Kleinschmidt and Mary Riley posting the tallies to close out the scoring in the contest.
McKeever finished the game with the six points she produced before halftime and Ribadeneyra was the only Mount Saint Mary to score more than once, tallying her first two goals of the season to go along with her team leading ninth assist of the year.

Jackie Davis and Cavallo each joined McKeever and Ribadeneyra with a goal and an assist in the win.

Riley picked up the win in goal, playing just the opening 23 minute of the game. Freshman Molly Jensen made her third appearance of the season and played a career-high 67 minutes in the win. Maritime keeper, Cammie Havens, finished the game with nine saves.

Overall, Mount Saint Mary outshot Maritime 30-0 overall and 19-0 in shots on goal. The Knights took four more corner kicks in the second half to finish with a 9-0 edge in the category.

Saturday’s win moves Mount Saint Mary to 4-6 overall on the season and to 3-1 in Skyline Conference play.
