Army West Point Black Knights Slip to 67-62 Defeat at U.S. Naval Academy

ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The Army women’s basketball team trailed by three with 32 seconds left, but didn’t get any closer during a 67-62 loss to Navy in the 2017 Star Game on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall.

Army’s five-game winning streak comes to an end as the Black Knights fall to 19-7 overall and 10-5 in the Patriot League after the loss, while Navy moves to 20-7 and 13-2.

Junior Aliyah Murray posted her fifth double-double of the year with a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Murray shot 10-of-16 from the floor and also matched a career best with five steals. Junior Destinee Morris also reached double figures with 14 points, and classmate Janae McNeal tallied nine points, eight boards and a career-high-tying seven assists.

Sophomore Madison Hovren finished with seven points and nine rebounds, while junior Lena’ Hicks and freshman Libby Tacka each netted five points.

Sarita Condie led Navy with 21 points and Taylor Dunham added 17, including 13 points in the second half.

Army plays on the road for the final time during the 2016-17 regular season, when it faces Boston University on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
