CORTLAND – Sophomore guard Lindsay Bettkeof the State University of New York at New Paltz women’s basketball team has been named the final SUNYAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for 2016-17, announced by the league office on Monday.
Bettke averaged 22.5 points per game this weekend to help the Hawks to a 2-0 record and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament, earning the first-round bye.
The sophomore enjoyed a career-high 23 points against Plattsburgh on Friday, going 8-of-20 from the field and 5-of-7 from long distance. Bettke also notched three boards and two steals versus the Cardinals.
Against Potsdam on Saturday, Bettke registered 22 points, going 8-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. She also provided two boards and two steals in victory.
This is the second time Bettke has earned the weekly award this year, as she was named the Player of the Week on Jan. 23.
Bettke and the No. 2-seeded Hawks (16-8) will face the winner of the No. 3 Oneonta/No. 6 Brockport game on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the SUNYAC Semifinals, hosted by Geneseo.
