ALBANY – The #6 seeded Marist women’s Basketball team fell to the #3 seeded Fairfield Stags, 61-44, in the quarterfinal round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. The loss ends the Red Foxes’ season.

After starting the game just 3-for-13 from deep, three consecutive triples for the Red Foxes would cut the lead down to single digits, 34-25, before the half.

Overall the Red Foxes shot just 9-for-25 (.360) from the field in the first half while Fairfield finished the half 13-2-for-27 (.480). Fitzpatrick led Marist in the first half with 10 points and Lovisa Henningsdottir and Hannah Hand each contributed with five points.

After Fairfield extended its lead to double-digits again in the third a take to the hoop by Fitzpatrick with under four minutes in the third would cut the lead back down to single digits. But overall a 14-8 third quarter scoring advantage would keep the Stags ahead.

Fairfield would continue to build on its lead from there, leading by as many as 19 on two separate occasions in the fourth quarter.

The Red Foxes finish the season 15-17 overall and 11-9 in the MAAC. The game marked the final outings for seniors Sydnie Rosales and Morgan Metcalf.
