Astor Head Start Receives Funds From Feds

RHINEBECK – The US Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Rhinebeck-based Astor Services for Children and Families over $1 million to support the agency’s Early Head Start and Head Start programs. The funding will be used to support and grow early education and development services for low-income families in the Hudson Valley.

“These funds will directly benefit the children we serve through our work to improve children’s education, mental health, welfare, and developmental programs in the region,” said Sonia Barnes-Moorhead, executive vice president of The Children’s Foundation of Astor.

Head Start and Early Head Start provide comprehensive child development programs for low-income children from birth to age five, as well as supports and services for their families.

The grant was announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gilibrand.
